Green Tips & Advice - Dial Down Your Water Heater

There is a good probability you can dial down the thermostat on your water heater a few degrees. Don't fret, we promise you'll still have plenty of hot water for multiple daily showers, the dishes, and laundry.

Typically a water heater’s temperature is dialed far further up than necessary (commonly 140 degrees F). However, this degree of super-heated water is just not necessary and most households would do just fine and not even realize a difference in keeping the appliance set to anything over 120 degrees F.

Dropping the temperature down from 140 to 120 would reduce your water heating costs by an approximate 7 to 10%. Give it a shot, worst case scenario you have a luke-warm shower once and you can slowly turn up the dial until the temperature is at a satisfying place.
